Saxonby appoints new finance director
Shropshire homebuilder Saxonby has appointed experienced financial consultant Geoff Barrow as its new finance director.
Barrow holds a law degree from the University of Sheffield and qualified as a chartered accountant while at Ernst & Whinney, (later Ernst & Young). He has over 30 years’ experience in senior finance roles, working with a variety of SMEs from a broad range of industries. Over the last fifteen years, however, he has developed a particular interest in the construction sector.
Commenting on this experience and how it can be applied to Saxonby, Barrow said: “I always aim to build long-term relationships with clients, rather than providing ad hoc services. As a result I get heavily involved with management teams to provide all the senior financial input required by the SME. The enthusiasm and passion for what they do was obvious when I first met the other Saxonby directors. From my experience of the sector and my approach to business, I felt we were immediately on the same wavelength. As the business continues its expansionary phase, controlling this growth financially, is crucial. I will be developing the company’s systems of internal control to facilitate and manage this growth, and to provide the directors with strategic, financial input into the decision-making process. Ensuring the company has access to appropriate and adequate sources of finance will also be a key objective, while at the same time, enjoying what we do!”
James Wood, director at Saxonby said: “To have someone of Geoff’s calibre recognise our potential and agree to work with us, highlights how far Saxonby has developed and grown in just the past five years. He joins the team at a time when his expertise in financial management and planning will help us to progress to the next stage in the company’s development and growth.”
